OAK FROM ROMANIA (species Quercus Sensiliflora). The wine comes from the environs of Arad, Oradea, Timisoara and Craiova, a forest that spreads over the southern foothills of the Transylvanian Alps. It has an extra-fine structure, similar to that of French oak from Tronçais. It is very respectful of the fruit, making it ideal for wines whose characteristics we wish to leave largely unaltered. We recommend it for long ageing periods, as its extra-fine grain barely allows for aeration and its is harder for the wine’s alcohol to extract tannins.
